The Teachers for Third Class are: Ms. G. Rowan, Ms. E. Davis, Ms. E. Daly and Ms. M. Hegarty. The Teachers for Fourth Class are: Ms. A. Cope, Mr. L. Sheridan, Mr. J. Keogan and Ms. D. Carr. We will during the school year keep you posted of class events which are always varied and interesting.
Thrid Class 2023/24
April 2024
The children are learning about rainforests of the world.

The children buddied up with Ms O' Reilly's Senior Infants. They all had fun revising sight words through games.
March 2024
The children practised their sewing skills and made the cutest Easter bunny keyrings.
A well-deserved win for Lots of Socks Day to support Down's Syndrome.
The children were thrilled to win a homework pass and were careful to be strategic about when to use it!


The children took the opportunity to soak up the spring sunshine in our lovely school garden.
Third class is very proud of our very own Irish dancers who performed for everyone at the céilí. Maith sibh, a cailíní!
They remembered all their dance moves at the céilí!

The children enjoyed learning new vocabulary about autumn in the first term.

In September, the children refreshed their knowledge of the colour wheel. They mixed primary colours to make secondary and then tertiary colours. They did a great job carefully painting the colour wheels.

June 2024
The River Walk, The Crystal Maze, Kilmainhamwood.
The 6th of June saw us take a trip to The Crystal Maze, Kilmainhamwood. The children completed a sequence of challenges to earn crystals. Not surprisingly, our school took home the trophy!
May 2024
Thankfully the weather held up for us and we had a very enjoyable sports day. The wheelbarrow race had some questionable tactics but great fun was had by all!
Our assembly awards this month were hotly contested and we had some extremely deserved winners! Congratulations to Zach, Sarah, Alice and Ameya.
Congratulations to Augusto and Igor who were our very first Blooket champions!!
The 20th of May saw the return of the St. Stephen's N.S. Diversity Fair which was another huge success! In our class alone we had representations from Greece, Pakistan, Brazil, Serbia, Russia and America. The children sang, taught us some new facts and some new words in different languages, they showcased traditional dress and also brought in some beautiful cuisine from the different countries. It was a really enjoyable day.
The children were very busy learning about rainforests. We used the ipads to research information on the different layers in a rainforest. We also looked at some of the many animals that use the rainforest as their habitat. We then used a drawing tutorial to create a terrific toucan. The children used oil pastels to complete their drawing. I think you'll all agree they look amazing!!
The children are having fantastic fun constructing with our Plus-Plus blocks. As you can see they have been very creative and imaginative with their designs.
April 2024
We celebrated Autism Acceptance Day in St. Stephen's. The children made some beautiful posters to help raise awareness of autism. We visited Cáirde Nua and met some of the children and saw their amazing facilities.
March 2024
The children arrived to school to a lovely surprise waiting on them! I think they were all happy.
We celebrated World Down Syndrome Day with lots of socks on March 21st. The children wore lovely bright coloured socks.
This months assembly awards were awarded for being a good friend, neat presentation and Gaeilgóir na Míosa. All very well deserved winners again this month, Congratulations!!!
There was some great footwork on display at our 'Céilí Mór'. We all had a super time Irish dancing to 'Ballaí Luimnigh'. Riverdance watch out!!!
On March 7th we celebrated World Book Day. We decorated our door with the story of 'An Mhaighdean Mhara'. Each child contributed to our beautiful display and I think it looks amazing!! We have some very talented artists in our class. We dressed up in our comfortable clothes for 'Cosy up and Read'. A great day was had by all.
February 2024
The children had fantastic fun at our 'Maidin Gaelach.' They played 'Nathracha agus Dréimirí', 'Biongó' agus 'Ciorcal Comhrá'. Múinteoir Tom even helped out with 'Biongó.'

n school today we decorated some pancakes to celebrate Shrove Tuesday, the last day before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. As a class, we have given up our Friday treat for Lent so we are all very much looking forward to Easter!!
February began with 'St. Brigid's Day'. St. Brigid's Day marks the first day of Spring. The children enjoyed making a St. Brigid's Day cross to protect their homes. They made the crosses from rushes. They were all very proud of their finished products.
January 2024
We have been learning about 'Polar Animals'. The children have completed excellent research using the i-pads to find out information on animals from both the Arctic and Antarctica such as polar bears, the arctic fox, the arctic hare, the walrus and penguins.
We created a beautiful display of penguins enjoying the snow and ice.
We started off the new year with some gymnastics lessons for P.E. The children had lots of fun and as you can see we have some very talented gymnasts in our class!
December 2023
This months awards were for showing kindness, outstanding educational achievement and Gaeilgeoir na Míosa.

We had a lovely time celebrating the build up to Christmas at school. We completed lots of Christmas crafts and we made delicious marshmallow snowmen!
I think the children did a wonderful job at making their snowmen look so tasty!!
November 2023
This month the children were working towards some monthly awards received at our school assembly. There were two awards for being respectful, one award for outstanding handwriting and another award for Gaeilgeoir na Míosa. Well done to everyone!!

October 2023
We had a fantastic time celebrating Halloween. All the children made a wonderful effort to dress up with many creative costumes!!
We made delicious chocolate apples. The children really enjoyed this and the chocolate decorated apples didn't last too long!
We decorated the classroom windows with pumpkins and spider webs and the classroom looked very spooky indeed.
June 2024
Gymnastics
For our last PE lesson in 3rd class, the children developed their gymnastics skills. They worked on various rolls (pencil rolls, teddy bear rolls, forward rolls) and balancing on their own and with their partners. Some children were confident in doing amazing cartwheels across the mats because they go to gymnastics classes outside of school. The class also worked on jumping from various heights and landing safely on the mats. Super work everyone!
School Tour
3rd class went to The Crystal Maze for their school tour and had a fantastic time. They solved riddles, completed obstacle courses, navigated the maze and worked superbly in teams to collect crystals. They even did a walk through the river which they said was really fun. At the end of the day, they had collected enough crystals to win a trophy to bring back to the school. Well done everyone!
May 2024
Virtual Reality
The children experienced how games can be created using iPads and these games can then be played using virtual reality (VR) headsets. They all got a chance to go on a rollercoaster using the VR headsets which they really enjoyed.

Sports Day
3rd class had an amazing time at Sports Day. There were lots of sports played including dodgeball, chaos tag, basketball, soccer, races, volleyball and a penalty shoot-out. They showed off their athletic skills superbly and performed so well when working in teams. The pictures of the fastest girls, boys, relay teams and the whole class are incredible. Well done everyone!


Relay Marathon
As a school, we ran the length of a marathon by each class running a certain number of laps. 3rd class had a great time running their lap with their partners and getting the baton safely around the track. Well done everyone!
Multicultural Day
Victoria shared information about Nigeria and even brought in a traditional meal which looked very tasty. Nadia and Kornelia sang the Polish National Anthem and they were incredible. Well done girls!

Assembly Awards
Congratulations to this month’s winners of the classroom awards! Adam and Michael won the awards for standing up to unkind behaviour. Zuzanna won the award for neat handwriting. Sorin won the Gaeilgóir (Irish speaker) award. Well done everyone!
April 2024
Autism Awareness Week
Autism Awareness Week was held from the 15th – 19th of April. During the week, 3rd class played with children from Cairde Nua at yard times which they really enjoyed. They visited Cairde Nua and saw some classrooms, the yard, the occupational therapy area and the sensory room. Lots of sensory learning resources were displayed in the PE hall for 3rd class to use and explore. It was an amazing week!


Spring Lambs
The children used brightly coloured paints to create a scene with lambs to celebrate the end of Spring. How amazing!

March 2024
Seachtain na Gaeilge
3rd class really enjoyed our school’s ‘Céilí Mór’. They showed their Irish dancing skills by dancing to ‘Ballaí Luimnigh’. After our céilí, a group of amazing children showed us several Irish dances including reels, jigs and group dances. They were absolutely brilliant!


Easter
Happy Easter from Ms. Daly's 3rd class!

World Down Syndrome Day
On the 21st of March, we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day by wearing odd or colourful socks to school. The socks 3rd class wore were amazing and it was a great way to raise awareness for and celebrate those with Down Syndrome.

Assembly Awards
Huge congratulations to this month’s winners of the classroom awards! Ayan and Nora won the award for being a good friend to others. Clara won the neat presentation award. Laura won the Gaeilgóir (Irish speaker) award. Well done to everyone!

World Book Day
This year as a class we chose to decorate our classroom door with the story of ‘The Salmon of Knowledge’. We picked eight pictures that told the story perfectly. Everyone had the opportunity to draw, outline or colour the pictures and title. Their work looks brilliant and it lights up the hallway!

February 2024
PE
3rd class are improving their teamwork skills by playing team games. These games include hockey, football, basketball and dodgeball. They are really enjoying working together.

Spring art
Here are beautiful spring flowers that the children made using various colours and patterns. Some curled the petals of their flowers to make them look 3D. They look amazing!

Clay candle holders
For Valentine’s Day, 3rd class created candle holders out of clay. They shaped the clay into a heart and added details such as flowers or bees. When the clay had dried, the children painted them in various colours and placed a tee light in the middle of the clay heart. They looked fantastic!

January 2024
The Stone Age
We were learning about The Stone Age and the children did iPad research on Stone Age food, houses, weapons, animals and clothes. When their research was finished, each group designed a poster displaying the facts they learned and various Stone Age pictures. Each group then presented their poster to the class. We also learned about Newgrange and created these paintings of the sun rising over Newgrange. An amazing display of the children’s hard work!

Planet projects
Here are the children’s finished projects about the planets in our solar system. They put so much work into creating these colouring and factual posters. Each group presented their poster to the rest of the class and showed brilliant teamwork skills!

November 2023
Assembly
On Friday the 24th of November, we had our first assembly of the year for 3rd to 6th classes. Congratulations to the four award winners from our class! Leighton and Lucian won the awards for showing respect, Nora won the handwriting award and Emily won the gaeilgeoir (Irish speaker) award.


Project on planets
3rd class were doing projects about the planets in our solar system. They used the iPads to research facts and pictures based on their given planet. Then, they were working very hard to create and decorate their posters for their class presentation. We can’t wait to show off the finished posters!

Winter windows
The children used paint to create these cosy winter windows. They all chose the colour of their own mug and the range of colours and designs they did are amazing! These mugs of hot chocolate would be lovely to have on a chilly winter's day!

GAA
We have a new GAA coach, Damien Sheridan, who is giving fantastic GAA sessions to the children. All the games he organises work on coordination, teamwork and enjoyment. 3rd class are improving these skills each week.

October 2023
The children were very excited for Halloween and spent a lot of time creating our 'Homemade Halloween Corner'. They made Halloween decorations for the classroom and when they were finished, this corner looked very spooky!

It was Halloween Costume Day today and what great costumes we had! 3rd class were very creative and put a lot of effort into their costumes. They all looked amazing!

Maths week was very exciting. The children played various maths games in class and also participated in an online maths week zoom quiz with over 400 Irish schools! The children showed very interesting mathematical thinking skills.
3rd class created these beautiful spider webs using different colours and patterns. They added a spider or two to their work and this made their work very realistic.

September 2023
3rd Class created beautiful paintings of the sun setting over mountains. The detail they put in is incredible and their work really brightens up the school hallway!
June 2024
3rd class really enjoyed their school tour to Crystal Maze this year. They all had a brilliant time and worked really well in their teams. The best part was the River Walk which was good fun for everyone!





May 2024
Well done to Brian and John on recieving the award for 'Not Being a Bystander to Unkind Behaviour'. They are very kind children who are respectful to everyone and always stick up for others. Well done to Hannah Kmak on recieving the Handwriting Award. Her writing is always excellently presented and she takes great pride in her work. Well done to Jessica on recieving the award for Gaeilgeoir na Míosa. She has excellent Irish language ability and always uses them in school.

March 2024
The Easter Bunny made an appearance in Ms Hegarty’s third class this year and the children were delighted! They’ve worked hard and tried their best all term and are looking forward to the Easter holidays!

Ms Hegarty’s class really loved celebrating World Book Day this year. We discussed our favourite books, characters and authors. The children brought in their favourite books also and were happy to share with others.

Well done to Jerome and Molly for winning the March assembly Good Friends awards, Aaliyah for winning the award for Meath presentation and Jennica for winning Gaeilgeoir na Míosa. They all worked so hard this month and should be very proud of themselves.

January 2024
Congratulations to this months award winners which were given out at our January assembly. Lucie and Edward won the awards for Appreciation and Gratitude, Sabina won the award for Perseverance and Hard Work and Hanna won the award for Gaeilgeoir na Míosa. Well done to all!

December 2023
Well done to James who created this masterpiece in the run up to the holidays. He showed his artistic talent and eye for detail. He also won Student of the Month for December. Excellent work James!

Congratulations to John and Brian on getting the December awards for kindness, to Saoirse for getting the award for Gaeilgeoir Na Míosa and to Keela for getting the award for Educational effort. All the children worked very hard all month and always try their best. They should all be very proud of themselves and their achievements. Well done to them all.

Ms Hegarty’s 3rd class really enjoyed a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus this morning. The children are very thankful for the sweets and reindeer food they were all given. They’re all hoping Santa will pay them a visit on Christmas Eve night.

November 2023
Congratulations to Molly, Aria, Emily and Jerome who recieved the awards in Ms Hegarty's class at our school assembly for November. They all worked very hard and should be very proud of themselves.

February 2024
Project on 'The Vikings'
4th class were doing projects about the Vikings. They used the iPads to research facts and pictures based on their given title ( vikings, longhouses or longships) . They worked very hard and created brilliant posters! We even had some amazing longhouses and longboats made at home!

We celebrated St. Brigids day by reading all about her life and making the traditional St. Brigid's cross out of reeds. We hung a St. Brigids cross up on our Religion wall.

Pancake Tuesday
We wrote pancake recipes in our genre writing copies and got to include the toppings we love! There were some very creative titles using great adjectives! We then got to enjoy some real pancakes with lots of toppings!

This month Ms. Copes class has been learning all about water pollution. We learned about the importance of filtering water and got to make our own water filter using our own resources! Our handmade filters were a great success and the dirty water came out clean in the end!

February 2024
February was all about Geography and Science in 4th class. We designed and constructed our very own water filtration systems, which were very effective! We also constructed dams on our own rivers, using natural and recycled materials.
January 2024
We kicked off 2024 by creating patterns and designs using 2-D shapes. We also had lots of fun in PE playing hockey, badminton, rounders and our own version of air hockey!
December 2023
In December, we got into the Christmas spirit with lots of Christmas arts and crafts. This included snowboarding polar bears and salt dough Christmas tree decorations.
November 2023
In November, we used our “angle finders” to identify acute, obtuse and right angles in our classroom. We also turned the corridor into a Winter wonderland with our beautiful paper trees.


October 2023
We have been working so hard in 4th class this month. Our costumes and Hallowe'en art added a spooky atmosphere to our corridor. Ó thaobh Gaeilge de, d'imríomar cluichí meaitseála chun cleachtadh a dhéanamh ar fóclóir Oíche Shamhna.
September 2023
4th class have made a great start to the year! We read all about journeys into space so we constructed rockets and launched them in the gym. We also used iPads to create bar charts and pie charts to present data about our class.

February 2024
As part of S.E.S.E Mr.keogan's 4th class designed and built Viking long boats and Viking long houses.

May 2024
May was a very busy month for our class! The children took part in the marathon relay and Sports Day. They completed fantastic projects on Japan. We got the opportunity to use VR headsets, which was a wonderful experience.The children came first in the fundraising challenge for the school, they did superb and worked really hard collectively to ensure we got our pizza party! Well done to Patrisia, she took part in the Diversity Fair and spoke about France. Congratulations to Luke for winning his cup final for his team, St. Kevin's!





April 2024
The children created 3D shapes during math lessons - well done!

We celebrated Autism Awareness Week and engaged in lots of different activities. The children really enjoyed the sensory play and Crazy Hair Day!

March 2024
Students from Coláiste na Mí came into our class to tell us all about water conservation.The class really enjoyed the workshop.

During the month we planted strawberries and potatoes. We are looking forward to watching them grow. The boys and girls also planted sunflower seeds for Mother's Day. They created lovely flower pots.

This month we celebrated "Seachtain na Gaeilge" as well as St. Patrick's Day. Here are some photos from the "céilí" and "Lá Glas".

February 2024
Project on 'The Vikings'
As part of S.E.S.E our class learned all about the Vikings. The children worked very hard together to create brilliant projects. in class. The boys and girls also designed and built Viking long boats and Viking longhouses at home. They created outstanding pieces of work and should be very proud of themselves - well done 4th Class!!






We were very excited and looking forward to Pancake Tuesday. We enjoyed some delicious pancakes together.

January 2023
The children started the year learning about procedural writing. They wrote excellent pieces in English and Gaeilge. They wrote a delicious recipe for Sailéad Torthaí Úra! Well done boys and girls!

We studied all about the artist, Andy Warhol. The children recreated their own Andy Warhol inspired artwork.

December 2023
December was a very exciting month for our class. We had two very special visitors. The children loved our biodiversity talk and really enjoyed learning about various wildlife. Throughout the month we created lots of Christmas themed artwork and made Christmas ornaments using salt dough. The boys and girls enjoyed a hot chocolate and movie afternoon as a reward for all their hard work.
We were delighted to get a visit from Santa and got a lovely class photo.




November 2023
4th class did group projects about The Roman Empire. They used the iPads to research facts and learn all about Ancient Rome. The children created lots of wonderful winter themed artwork. They did a great job using chalk to recreate the Northern Lights!
We also took lovely class photos for our school calendar!



October 2023
We have been working very hard in 4th class this month. The boys and girls created a self portrait and goals for 4th Class. The children really enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and created wonderful pieces of Halloween themed artwork.


September 2023
A great start to a new school year. The boys and girls settled very well into 4th Class. During 'Friendship Week' our class went for a walk around the school campus.
